Wika is a fantasy comic book trilogy written by Thomas Day and illustrated by Olivier Ledroit, published by Glénat between 2014 and 2016.
Set in a dark and baroque fairy universe, the series follows Wika, a strong-willed young woman evolving in a world inhabited by fairies, fantastic creatures, political intrigues and occult forces. Far removed from traditional fairy tales, Wika offers an adult and sensual reinterpretation of fairy folklore, imbued with mystery and cruelty.
Olivier Ledroit’s graphic universe, entirely created in watercolor, unfolds a steampunk and Victorian aesthetic of remarkable visual richness. Each page stands out for the finesse of the line, the sophistication of the costumes and a subtle chromatic palette, giving the series an immediately recognizable visual identity.
Through its three volumes — Wika and Oberon’s Fury, Wika and the Black Fairies and Wika and the Gloomy Mists — the series establishes itself as a major work of contemporary graphic fantasy, where the power of the artwork dialogues with a dense, poetic and sometimes unsettling narrative.
