ARROYO Jean-Michel

Jean-Michel ARROYO is a French cartoonist, born in Béziers.
Around 11 or 12 years old, as many children, Arroyo draws out of pleasure but he was also passionated about many other activities, including cycling, which he was practicing in a sustained way for about ten years; which will also interrupt his graphic desires. When he stopped cycling he took over the drawing and this is alone, in complete self-taught, that he will earn his stripes.
After having seen some of his plates, the Zephyr editions, specialized in aeronautics, offered him the Air Blues project. This first "aerial" experience will lead him to be asked to participate in Buck Danny Classic, the spin-off of Buck Danny, famous Charlier series. The success of the albums and critical recognition then allowed him to work with Pierre Christin (famous writer of Valerian and Bilal’s first albums, in particular), on Pigalle, 1950 (Dupuis), in 2022.
Sentenced to 4 years (including 18 months of actual imprisonment) for domestic and sexual violence in February 2023, Arroyo is currently incarcerated.
