The Quest for the Time Bird" is a series of heroic fantasy comic books created by Régis Loisel in 1983. The screenplay is by Serge Le Tendre and Régis Loisel collaborated from the second cycle. The drawings were made by several artists, according to the cycles, or even according to the different volumes of a cycle. Régis Loisel produced the four volumes of the first cycle and also produced the colors of the first volume of the second cycle. The story takes place in the world of Akbar, which is in danger because the cursed god Ramor will soon be released from prison. The princess-sorceress Mara has deciphered the gods' grimoire and has found the spell that binds Ramor to his prison, but the spell is long and complicated. For this reason, she sends Pélisse and Knight Bragon to search for the time bird, which has the power to freeze time and which would allow Mara to complete her spell. Their quest will take them through five of the seven steps of the country. The first cycle of the series, consisting of four albums, was published at the end of the 1980s. The second cycle, which is a prequel to the original quest, was begun in 1998 with volume 5 and was originally intended to consist of three to four albums. However, in late 2017, a fifth volume was published and in 2020, the sixth volume was published. Serge Le Tendre, co-screenwriter of the series, announced in 2017 that there would be three additional albums for this prequel cycle, making a total of eight albums for this second cycle. The third cycle of the series, entitled "After the Quest", was to be co-written by Serge Le Tendre and Régis Loisel, with drawings by Régis Loisel. The authors also announced that this third cycle would include one or two albums, but no more, and would end with the physical death of Bragon.
