Michel PLESSIX is a French and more specifically Breton cartoonist, an important detail when one knows the love he had for his native land, born in 1959 and died in 2017.
It was through Spirou that he discovered comics and through the paths of Jigé and Franquin that he nurtured the desire to become a cartoonist himself!
He started as an illustrator (for posters) before publishing his first boards. It was with the very young publisher Guy Delcourt that he published Julien Boisvert with Dieter as co-writer (also a Breton).
But it was on his own that he embarked on the adaptation of the novel by Kenneth Grahame: The Wind in the Willows. This animal series (1996-2001), far from being addressed solely to a young audience, explores very current concerns, with different levels of reading!
Plessix's detailed and joyful drawing perfectly matches the universe he sets up. He extends the story through a sequel (2005-2013): The Wind in the Sands.
In 2016, he co-authored with Frank Le Gall Where the Ants Go and won the poster prize at the Quai des Bulles Festival (the most maritime comic book festival)!
After 15 albums, Michel Plessix succumbed to a heart attack in 2017, at the age of 57, leaving behind a recognizable universe that never goes out of fashion!
