Nicolas DE CRECY is a French comic book author, illustrator, and writer.
Nacido en Lyon, en el seno de una familia muy artística, es parte de la primera promoción de la École Supérieure de l'Image d'Angoulême.
After his studies, he joined the Disney Studios in Montreuil in 1987, and then participated in several animation projects, whether they came to fruition or not, either alone or as a draughtsman within a team.
His first steps in comics, in 1991, were acclaimed by critics! His comic book Foligatto (the story of a castrato in 18th-century Italy) allowed him to combine his passion for comics with his love for art history. His drawings, inspired by the Baroque period, along with his very personal use of color, immediately placed him among the leading illustrators! Foligatto has received numerous awards.
This was followed by the trilogy Le Bibendum Céleste, recounting the adventures of a young seal arriving in New York on the Loire River. His intricate drawings and dense colors bring an extraordinary visual dimension to the comic book.
In 1998, he won the Alph-Art award for Best Album with Laid, pauvre et malade (part of the series Léon La Came) created with Sylvain Chomet.
Subsequently, he created Monsieur fruit, Prosopopus, Période Glaciaire (a brilliant homage to painting, especially the collections of the Louvre), and Salvatore.
Since the 1990s, he has also been a recognized illustrator and a novelist (Vieux criminels in 2021 published by Gallimard).
