Alex Alice

Alex ALICE is a French comic book author and illustrator. While pursuing business studies, he developed a passion for drawing and animation. His encounter with Xavier Dorison in 1993 led the two students to embark on their first comic book project. This initial attempt was a resounding success, as they published Le Troisième Testament in 1997, with Alice handling the drawing and coloring, as well as co-writing with Dorison (who also came up with the original idea).
Balancing history and mystical quest, the series immediately achieved significant success that lasted for a decade and a total of four volumes.
In 2010, collaborating with Robin Recht on the art (for Volume 1) and Timothée Montaigne (Volumes 2 to 5), Alice and Dorison released Le Troisième Testament, Julius, a spin-off focused on Julius Publius Vindex, a Roman general turned prophet of the Third Testament.
In 1997, video game publisher Eidos entrusted Alice with the comic book adaptation of Lara Croft's adventures. The album Tomb Raiser: Dark Eons was released two years later but quickly pulled from the shelves due to rights issues with Eidos. The albums that had been sold before the ban became highly sought-after collector's items!
In 2007, Alice published (writing + drawing) Siegfried, based on the Nibelungen legend, followed by La Walkyrie and Le Crépuscule des Dieux.
Since 2014, he has been working (writing + drawing) on Le Château des Étoiles, a science fiction series set in the (reinvented) 19th century, referencing Jules Verne and Steampunk aesthetics. Pre-published in the form of journals, the gazette format (cherished by Tardi) allows Alex Alice to present the story in episodes, reminiscent of 19th-century publications like Eugène Sue's Les Mystères de Paris. The series also enables him to blend historical grandeur, with Germany and Prussia at the height of their glory, and visual complexity, where he clearly excels!
