Milo MANARA is an Italian cartoonist, mainly erotic.
At the age of 22, he worked as an assistant to the Spanish sculptor Barrocal, discovering erotic comics through the work of Jean-Claude Forest (Barbarella) and Guy Peelaert (Jodelle). He sees here, the way to finance his studies of architecture, by means of this "hobby". In 1968, he published Genius and Jolanda.
In 1974, his adaptation of the Decamerron and then in 1976 The Monkey installed it in a field that remains "a niche" of the comic book. It is with The Declic that he allows this niche to reach a large audience by becoming the leader, in 1983!
Working with Hugo Pratt or Federico Fellini, Manara becomes the reference of erotic comics! His precise feature, his culture filled with classical pictorial and sculptural works, his passion for the 18th and 19th centuries make him a unique artist.
